Prayer and Liturgy - Collective Worship in our school

Prayer and Liturgy Policy

Prayer and Liturgy

Prayer is a key part of our school life.  Praying together is part of the daily experience for all pupils and staff.  Prayer is part of every day at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. We share prayers in the morning, at lunchtime and at the end of the day.  As a school we also have a prayer chapel which is based in our outdoor classroom, this is used to support pupil led prayer.

We have a policy which supports children to learn a wide range of prayers throughout the liturgical year.  Progression in the prayers that children learn about and learn to say is built into our curriculum and liturgical plans.

Prayer Booklet (new directory)

Throughout the school year, there are opportunities for prayer, Celebration of the Word and Liturgy.  We have developed a school prayer booklet which is used across school and supports child led liturgy which takes place each week.

Preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion  is supported by school, but led by the church.

Please see attached our detailed plan of provision to support the Catholic Life of our school and all celebrations of the word

Peace Like a Flower - Retford RotaKids Peace Anthem

Children from eight Retford schools are celebrating after the release of their original song 'Peace Like a Flower.' The song features the voices and original words of local children, and interest in their powerful message of peace is gaining momentum worldwide. It appeals to the world to show unity, compassion, and highlights the pressing need to make a change.
