Free School Meals

Free School Meals
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

Income Support
income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
income-related Employment and Support Allowance
support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.

If your child receives FSM, school will also receive additional funds to support them as Pupil Premium children.  So even if you don't want your child to take free school meals, it's worth applying for the benefit of the school's funds and in turn the provision we can put in place.  Apply through the following link https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/education/school-meals/free-school-meals-and-milk/apply-for-free-school-meals-and-milk

Infant Free School Meals
Your child will be able to get free school meals if they’re in: reception class, year 1 or year 2.  Tell the Local Authority if you also get any of the qualifying benefits listed above if your child is in FS2, Y1 or Y2 as school will receive additional funding to support your child academically.  It is important to apply and it's easy to do by following the link https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/education/school-meals/free-school-meals-and-milk/apply-for-free-school-meals-and-milk

Free school meals eligibility assessments

Parents are encouraged to apply online for free school meals https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/education/school-meals/free-school-meals-and-milk, or by telephone to the Customer Service Centre (0300 500 80 80).  Parents who apply online will receive an immediate outcome and information is updated in real time for schools to access on the PRIME portal.  For any applications that are received but the parent does not qualify for free school meals, NCC will continue to carry out weekly checks on their benefit to ensure that if their circumstances change and they become eligible for free school meals, the claim is updated.

Please take an opportunity to apply for Free School Meals for you child, as you may be entitled. Further information can be found on the attached flyer. Even if your child already receives universal infant free school meals as they are in FS2, Y1 or Y2, you can still apply for Free School Meals and your child will benefit in school as we will receive Pupil Premium funding for them. See attached information. You can apply via the following link https://notts.cloud.servelec-synergy.com/SynergyWeb/Enquiries/Citizen/FreeSchoolMeals.aspx/
